In memory of Malcolm Langton, founder of Life2Romania who went to the Lord in October 2008.
It is with great sadness that we report the death of Malcolm Langton, Project Leader and passionate founder of Life2Romania after a short illness. Malcolm was a visionary with extraordinary insight who seized on the opportunity of developing evangelism among young people in Romania back in 1991. He managed against all the odds to organise a camp for over 50 children in Voronet, a beautiful and remote forested area in the North. All the equipment had to be gathered and transported from the UK within 3 months and it is the measure of the man that he believed that God would deliver despite the obstacles-and He did!! The camp took place and a remarkable work of the Holy Spirit saw almost everyone accept Jesus into their lives. Many of these have grown up and become pastors and leaders. Life2Romania was truly born!!
Malcolm continued to pioneer the work unabated and this work continues today. Countless camps and Holiday Clubs have taken place with over 400 volunteers from the UK who have participated in the Lord's wonderful work and have helped and encouraged literally thousands of potential Romanian leaders to practise outreach to over 10,000 children from a bewildering variety of backgrounds. Malcolm also encouraged Romanians to found their own organisation called Cristia which is becoming more independent and is thriving. It was rare to meet up with Malcolm no matter how many miles one travelled to visit him without the 'R' word cropping up within the first three sentences, such was his commitment, energy, sense of purpose and drive. Malcolm never tired of new initiatives and he helped to set up Corbu, a flourishing watersports centre near Constanta as well as horseriding, walking trips and his latest idea of an outdoor outreach event. Malcolm, you were a treasure and a mighty man of God who went into His arms triumphantly on Thursday 16th October.(Psalm 91:1,4)
